Early Childhood experiences at STAGES foster creativity and expression, promote language development and encourage social, physical and emotional growth. Our half-day workshops allow students focused time to grasp beginning performance concepts and learn the dynamics of working together as an ensemble, while our evening sampler classes are a fun and inviting introduction to a world of creativity!

Adventures in Wonderland

Guide your child through the looking-glass as we immerse ourselves in the world of Lewis Carroll and meet and re-create the wacky characters and situations that Alice encounters. This EXCITING one-week day-camp will immerse students in a high-energy, intensive all-day learning experience consisting of instruction in acting, singing and dancing. By focusing on process and technique-based coaching by professionals, students will experience the collaborative nature of theatre at its most thrilling. A culminating production of the material worked on will be presented for family and friends.

Students will break out into groups during the week to work on Pop Sensations and to Make-A-Musical using the skills they learn during their process and technique-based coaching.

Pop Sensations!

Feel the beat in this one-week workshop featuring show-stopping numbers from throughout the decades of Broadway pop musicals. Students will work as an ensemble on singing, musical comedy skills, a variety of dance styles and acting while having the chance to shine performing some of musical theatre’s hottest pop hits. The program will feature songs and choreography from current Broadway hits to earlier pop musicals from the 1960’s and 70’s.

MAKE-A-MUSICAL

Love to act, sing and dance? Well here’s your chance to do just that while starring in your very own original musical!  Come prepared with your creativity as the workshop moves quickly from an initial idea, to writing and design stages and finally into rehearsal—all in a jam-packed, fun-filled one week of theatre creativity.

PERFORMANCE WORKSHOPS

While continuing to emphasize the development of each student’s musical theatre talents, the Broadway Performance Workshops place emphasis on the rehearsal and production process. In these full-day programs students will be immersed in a challenging curriculum of acting, voice and dance classes taught by professional directors and choreographers. These same educators will cast and stage the  production, providing a performance outlet for techniques learned in daily class sessions.

Admission into the Broadway Performance Workshops is by audition only. For the audition, please prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song and a short monologue. A simple dance combination will be taught.

An Original Musical Theatre Piece for Teens          $550.00

Ever found that song you think was unquestionably written for or about you? Ever wanted to let your voice be heard by creating a show that says what you want to say? Well, here’s your chance!

In this three-week workshop advanced musical theatre students will have the opportunity to work with professionals to create their own personalized musical revue of today’s hottest pieces to those from classic creators. You’ll analyze and uncover the emotional messages and find your voice as it’s expressed through some of musical theatre’s greatest songs. A combination of studio-based technique work and rehearsal, this workshop will culminate in a fully-staged public performance by, for and about YOU and your generation! Exciting, edgy and unconventional, this program is a must for serious musical theatre students wishing to stretch their performance skills!

Al Fischer is a professional Music Director from St. Louis. Al has worked around the country, serving as Music Director in such theaters as STAGES ST. LOUIS, the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, the Little Theatre on the Square, Circa 21 Dinner Playhouse, the Riverside Theatre and the Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre.  For STAGES ST. LOUIS, he has served as Music Director for many productions, including HOW TO SUCCEED..., CAMELOT, FOOTLOOSE, HELLO, DOLLY! and LA CAGE AUX FOLLES.

Stories on Stage: Go Fish!
